Instead of trying to explain too much of what the tour’s been like, I thought maybe showing you a few pictures might be nice…

And for what it’s worth, music journalists have written some words lately regarding our latest LP:

GHBB LP available 8/6 @ Detroit Bar, actual release date pushed to 8/7

We just received word that, contrary to what we posted yesterday, our record will not be available today. The official release of Good Hands Bad Blood is being moved to this Friday, August 7th.

The good news is that we will have actual physical copies of the LP on Thursday at our Detroit Bar record release party. The Detroit Bar is a place close to our hearts. And we could not be more excited about this show. We’ve seen and played many great shows there, and developed a lot of good relationships in the confines of that bar. It’s more than a fitting venue to celebrate the release of our first full-length record. Hope to see you there!

And if your day is ruined because you can't purchase the album today, don't forget that you can also stream the entire LP via AOL’s Spinner website in the meantime!

One More Day & Counting....

Tomorrow, August 4th, marks the release of our first full length record Good Hands Bad Blood!

Good Hands Bad Blood will be available via iTunes and other select digital/actual record stores. Of course, we’ll have copies of the LP at all our shows.

If you want to buy a physical copy (which is highly recommended…artwork is still cool!) you can do so on Thursday August 6th when we celebrate the release of the record at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. We’re playing with our good friends, Yellow Red Sparks and The New Limb.

I’ll post a direct iTunes link tomorrow for those of you that want to purchase it digitally. You’ll then have 2 days to learn all the songs and sing along at the show on Thursday.

Man hugs.

LP Release Party, Free Download, & a TCT iPhone App!

After writing that post title, I feel like Crazy Gideon – you know, that guy on local Los Angeles cable TV who screams nonsense at the top of his lungs about how he can’t believe he’s offering so much stuff for almost free. Anyway…

LP Release Party @ Detroit Bar

As you know, our new album “Good Hands Bad Blood” will be available in less than a week… August 4th to be exact. We’re playing with our good friends Yellow Red Sparks and The New Limb. We’re really, really excited about this lineup. Come join us if you already haven’t marked your calendars. All the details are on our tour page.

Free Download of “Love & Squalor from iLike

If you can’t wait a week to get your hands on the new record, go to our iLike page right now for a free download of the song “Love & Squalor”. It’ll only be available this week, so go grab it while you can.

TCT iPhone App

“Wanna stay updated on all things TCT? There’s an app for that.” I had to do it. Sorry.

iLike once again has pulled through for us and offered a really easy platform to design and build an iPhone app. So that’s what we did, complete with updated news and blog posts (like this), our tweets, videos, photos, music, tour schedule, games, etc.

Download the TCT iPhone app now!

New York City & iLike Free Download

New Yorkers! We’re flying out to your wonderful city tomorrow for a few shows. That is, if we make it to LAX on time. It’s 2am and I haven’t finished packing yet. Ugh. Gotta wake up early and deal with taping up and securing my equipment before the flight. We’re backlining a ton of gear but bringing stuff like guitars, pedals, keyboard, cymbals and percussion. Let’s hope we get the less “aggressive” airline luggage crew.

It’s our first time out to the East Coast so we’re really excited. If you see half a guitar and keyboard hanging out of a taxi cab, it’s probably us. Stop and say hi. We have two shows on Thursday — The Cake Shop (6:30pm) and Fontana’s (9:35pm). Check out our tour section for all the details.

And if you're just dying to get your hands on some new music, and next week isn't soon enough (our album drops August 4th) - then you should stop by iLike.com and pick up the FREE download of "Love & Squalor" off our new album, "Good Hands, Bad Blood".

Album Art & New West Coast Tour Dates

Over the past few days, I’ve been tweeting about the progress of the Good Hands Bad Blood album artwork, and now it’s now finally time for the ubiquitous LP cover art revelation.

The LP artwork concept was inspired by a photo David took during a visit to Mexico. All the illustrations and watercolor were done by the wonderful Jenna Marshall. I spent the last few weeks pecking away at the layout. The lyrics read a lot like a ragged book of some sort. A very, very ragged book. We hope you enjoy it, we do.

West Coast Tour Dates

As our August 4th release date approaches, so do new tour dates. We start off by visiting New York city for the first time at the end of month. Then we fly home to play our record release (w/ The New Limb & Yellow Red Sparks!) before heading up the coast and into Canada. Here are confirm dates so far. More dates are in the works so continue to check our tour page.

See you soon!

The Color Turning = Busy Bees

The Color Turning have had a big month! They've toured up and down the western coast and back again (including good ol' Canada). They've opened for Scott Weiland and even headlined a show at the Roxy! They performed an intimate acoustic set with WeLikeIt.Indie and bought a "new" van. Big month indeed. And all of this is in preparation for their upcoming album release on August 4th, 2009!

The tour went really well and to prove it, we've snagged some show reviews to brag about: The Color Turning Make Beautiful Indie Music Scott Weiland w/ The Color Turning

And just today, WeLikeIt.Indie released live footage of The Color Turning at the La Malinche Art Gallery Acoustic Performance. If this doesn't impress you, then you lose.

The Color Turning - "Where The Sky Ends" from Welikeit.indie on Vimeo.

You can check more about this performance at TheCultureofMe.com or WeLikeItIndie.com

Special thanks to Ruben @ WeLikeItIndie for making this possible.

Needless to say, there's a lot happening in the TCT camp right now. To stay up to date make sure you're checking in on their website regularly... http://www.thecolorturning.com

TCT Tour Journal: Photos (CA, OR, WA, ID)

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then beef jerky in Idaho is worth a million. We’re 10 days into the tour and we thought it would be good to upload a small fraction of our experiences so far in the form of an online photo gallery. Technology is amazing, isn’t it?

I’m in the backseat of our van typing this update. We’re towards the end of our 800 mile goal as we just drove through Cedar City, Utah. We woke up this morning in Boise, Idaho. We’ll be in Las Vegas when this drive is finished. Tomorrow we’ll head out to Tucson to get ready for our acoustic show. Oh, the check engine light just came on. Let’s hope it’s nothing too important. Cross your fingers. I know we are. Enjoy the pics. -Steve

P.S. I just bought a coon’s skin hat.

Tour Journal: WeLikeIt.Indie Presents, KXLU Giveaways, and Scott Weiland

Greetings from the road - well, the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland actually. This place is amazing. Free Wi-Fi. Great atmosphere. We might need to come back here for a few drinks after the show. We’ll see.

The tour so far has been beautiful, literally and figuratively. The Pacific Northwest this time of year is breathtaking. Things are in bloom. The air is fresh. It’s been a welcome release from the urban-craziness of Los Angeles. We’re meeting lots of great people and bands. We met up with Voxhaul Broadcast last night, we haven’t seen those guys in such a long time. I’m glad we got to play with them again. They definitely killed it in Salem.

Some more good news - we’ve just added extra dates to our tour schedule. We’ll be playing with Scott Weiland. We’re really excited about playing with him again, not to mention visiting Canada for the first time!

WeLikeIt.Indie Acoustic Performance | Tucson, AZ

If you’re in the Tucson area, we’ll be doing a special recorded acoustic performance for WeLikeIt.Indie. Definitely a very special all ages event, not to mention free! Selections of the performance will be aired on WeLikeIt.Indie.

In-Store & Revolution Lounge Performances | Las Vegas, NV

On May 9th, we’ll be doing a free, in-store performance at Zia Records with our friends Yellow Red Sparks. At Zia, we’ll be giving away free tickets to our Revolution Lounge show the next night (also with Yellow Red Sparks). So stop by Zia Records on May 9th to win free tickets to our Revolution Lounge show on May 10th. Got it? Good.

LA Homecoming - Win Free Tickets on KXLU

We’ve got a big show at The Roxy on May 23rd. KXLU is starting to do ticket giveaways along with CD giveaways. We’re playing with our friends The Union Line along with LA Warehouse Electronic Chemists, Woven, and LA up and comers, Fire at Play. We’re really excited for this show and so is KXLU - if we’re home in time, we’ll be doing an in-studio interview at sometime before the show.

Tour Journal: Van Conversions, SF, and Canada (yes…Canada!)

Yesterday marked the first day of our Western United States tour. All of the dates have now been posted. We had planned to wake up early, meet at the rehearsal studio in Santa Ana around 7:30am to load our new van and trailer, and get on the road to San Francisco around 9am. Feeling a little relieved after finally purchasing a van 2 days before (see photo above), come Sunday night, we were still a little concerned about the trailer. As it turns out, it had been broken into by some schmuck who decided to cut the security hatch on the trailer door instead of the actual lock, only to find it was empty. But we were now stuck with getting the hatch welded. Some nice muffler place in the Orange Circle did the welding for free. So after getting the hitch hooked up, the trailer welded, and electrical connection adapter for the lights on the trailer, and everything packed, we were on the road yesterday by noon.

We got to San Francisco by 7:30pm just in time for our soundcheck at Elbo Room. SF has been unusually cold an windy, but the show was warm and cozy. Glaciers was massive, Strings and Ghosts were wonderful and Death Valley High was the pinnacle of rock n’ roll. It sounded like they ate a big bowl of “Master Volume 11″ for breakfast. It was amazing.

I’ve been sitting in a coffee shop called SoCha writing this post on one of our “transit” days. After lengthy consideration, we decided that the travel distance between San Francisco and our next show in Sacramento was just too strenuous. Hey, it’s the plight of an independent band booking their own tour.

Till next time,

Steve

P.S. Two words: Taqueria Cancun.

Spreading the TCT Gospel (Part 1)

We're about ready to hit the road for the first half of our West Coast Tour. I'm using the term "first half" because we'll be posting more dates in the next few days. (Check out our tour section to see where and when we'll be playing.) We'll be carrying our latest EP, Me Versus Me, with us for the entire tour. This EP will feature our first single, "Me Versus Me", along with two exclusive Good Hands Bad Blood B-Sides. (In case you missed our previous posts regarding the EP, read this and this.)

Now we recognize that price is an issue for some during this hard economic time. So following in the footsteps of President Obama, we would like to introduce the TCT Musical Bailout Plan. We're setting a fixed price of our Me Versus Me EP at $0. That's right, zero dollars. (No credit cards accepted, sorry.) Please understand that this EP will only be available at shows until June. After that, there will be many other ways of picking it up. So if your city isn't listed on our tour page this time around, stay close to your keyboard, iPhone, CrackBerry, and/or any other electronic device. We'll be posting more tour dates soon and more ways of picking up the EP.

Steve & TCT

Lyrics: Me Versus Me

Hey there...here are the title track lyrics from our upcoming EP entitled Me Versus Me. A firm release date is coming soon. In the meantime, you can download Me Versus Me for free in the downloads section of our website.

Me Versus Me

Black label warning
About time you come back
There is only time enough to fight
Switch back, you lost us
Holy night, you should drive
I was waiting for your silent cry

Not much for makeup
Straight shifts or shakeups
Feels like I'm waiting all the time
I'm underwater
Strapped down to red lights
Everything I told you was your own advice

No one looks the same here anymore
We sleep in different places every night
You never said you wouldn't come back up
To waste away in brilliant, perfect light
To sign your soul away on dotted lines
You never found a way out

Everyone is searching for heaven

Me Versus Me EP Album Art & LP Release Date

Hey friends...grab a chair. Let's talk.

Summer is coming quickly, and we're really looking forward to our upcoming West Coast Tour. While the details of the tour are being finalized, we're making it a point to get reacquainted with every song on our upcoming LP Good Hands Bad Blood so we can work each song, at different points, into our set list. We cannot wait to get out on the road again.

Release dates. Release dates. Release dates. We've been getting a lot of questions lately regarding this as of late. Many of you may already be well aware that we have an LP release date coming in June. (You've been so wonderfully patient.) However, in our desire to make this debut LP as special as it can be, we've ran into a delay.

We need to push the release date (for the very last time) to August 4th, 2009. This kills us as much as it kills you but there are a lot of things cooking on the TCT stove. And this release date will give us more time to tour, and to get all the album content exactly how we want it.

On the positive flip side, we will be filling this early summer music void by releasing a brand new EP entitled Me Versus Me in June. It will feature our first single, Me Versus Me, and two wonderful B-Sides (that we had the hardest time leaving off of the LP). We promise, you won't be disappointed.
